Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions:
- Whisk the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder in a saucepan over medium heat until the brown sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture is a uniform, deep red.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it bubble softly for 5–7 minutes until the sauce slightly darkens in color and becomes fragrant.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and cold water until smooth to create a slurry.
- Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering sauce. Continue to whisk constantly for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon in a smooth, opaque layer.
