Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder in a saucepan over medium heat until the brown sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture is a uniform, deep red.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it bubble softly for 5–7 minutes until the sauce slightly darkens in color and becomes fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and cold water until smooth to create a slurry.
  4. Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering sauce. Continue to whisk constantly for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon in a smooth, opaque layer.
